Day 149: Feliz día de la bandera!!!

HAPPY ARGENTINA'S FLAG DAY!!  Today is a day of joy for Argentinean people!!!

Nikon D90 (18-200mm  f/3.5-5.6) - 1/640s  f/16

The following text tells the history and meaning of this beautiful flag:

The history of Argentina’s flag, which dates back to 1812, is wrapped in a curious mix of revolutionary fighting for independence from Spain and Incan sun worship.
The Argentine flag has three horizontal bands; the top and bottom ones are light blue, and the middle is white. The Argentine flag colors’ meaning is disputed. Some say the white represents silver. Early conquistadors named the country Argentina after the Latin word Argentinum, meaning silver, thinking that the region contained vast amounts of the precious metal. The blue bands may represent the sky, the waters of Argentina’s Rio de la Plata, or the blue used by the Spanish royal house of Bourbon on their coat of arms.
Observing the flag, our gaze is immediately attracted to its center, where we find its most striking feature: a human face wearing a neutral expression inside a gold disc with straight and wavy rays emitting from its center, representing a sun. The sun, named el sol de mayo (the sun of May) after Argentina’s May revolution, which eventually lead to the nation’s independence from Spain, is a national emblem.

Day 148: Little witch

My hubby's art work is getting better hahahahaha  For some reason I like this little witch, seems like she is dancing in the air happily :D

Day 145: Little rascal

It's Monday again and I have a whole new week ahead of me :)  There are a lot of squirrels where we live and this one was running all over our neighbors roof. She started on their balcony, checking everything that they have there and once she got bored she jumped to the roof and stayed there for a couple of minutes. Lucky for me I had my camera close so I could take the photo before she went away.

Day 144: A window to nature

I took this photo just outside of our apartment, I really liked the contrast of the green tree against the blue sky and the roof of the apartment was perfect to frame it :)

Day 143: Watch out!! BIRDS!!

I'm going to upload more than 1 photo some days so I can catch up with the days I didn't take a photo (since the beginning of this year).  Hopefully I'll be able to do it before the end of the year :)

About today's photo, we where at the beach and suddenly my hubby said to me, YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!! When I open my eyes I saw thousands of birds flying over the ocean! IT WAS AMAZING!! I never saw this quantity of birds! They flew to the right and then to the left and again to the right, seemed like there was a school of fish near the shore and the birds were eating to their hearts content!!
The photo only shows a small part of the flock, I'd had need a panorama to show all of the birds.

Day 136: Peek a boo

I just woke up when I saw this squirrel on the tree, she was in a different position before I took the shot though. She seemed like (yes, I decided it was a she) trying to warm up, laying on the tree branch catching the first rays of sun, with her eyes closed, it was super cute!!
Of course, after I reached my camera she moved to a different position and this time, she was looking at me to see what I was doing hehehe

Day 134: Delicious apple

Hello there! I tried with an apple today and it was quite complicated because of the reflection of its skin. Even though I diffused the light it was still too bright. Well, I'll need to try other approaches ;)

Day 133: Lemon

Today is "lemon day" !! hehehe I can tell you that is complicated to take photos of fruits/veggies, each of them require specific background and light. I only use natural light, so for me my balcony is my studio :)

Have a nice end of the day!

Nikon D90 (105mm  f/2.8) - 1/125s  f/7.1

Day 132: Red Pepper

I started a mini project for my mom. She wants photos of fruits or veggies to hang on the kitchen (she saw some photos that she liked when we went to Vegas hehehe), so I'm experimenting to recreate them, and of course create new ones with different perspectives.

I hope you can join me on my journey :)

Day 130: Lanterns

Aren't they gorgeous? As you may guest I really like flowers and nature. There is no better place to be than on the balcony surrounded by flowers, while enjoying the warm breeze...it's soooo relaxing!

Can you guess what is the subject of this photo? It's a close up of the hibiscus! You can see the pistil and the stamens with the seeds.  I never had thought they had ball shape :)  Nature is unbelievable incredible!
