Day 304: Happy Halloween!!

HA HA HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!  Are you gonna host a haunted house this year??  Or maybe scare the kids that knock on your door with your amazing costume?
I didn't see much activity in our complex, seems like the rain scared everybody!! hihihi

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a sky tinted with blood.  Which one of the photos say Halloween more for you?

Day 303: Tulips

Hello again!! This is an update regarding the tulips post.  I checked the photos below in another computer and for my surprise the photo that looked better was the one that in my monitor looked dull!! My brain started to overheat and I thought how can this be happening?!! It was working perfectly fine with the previous posts.  I continued reading and it seems like it was more complex than I first thought.  The problem with the visualization of colors in not only related with the color gamut but with the different browsers that you use to see the photo!! Grrrr!!
At least now I understand a bit more about the problem, but still need more researching...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank God it's Thursday!! It was an annoying and frustrating day today :(  I took several photos of the tulips that my lovely hubby gave me. I was happy with the shots, but after I exported the chosen on to upload it to the blog the colors weren't just right! The photo looked dull.  I suspected it was related with the wide gamut that the original photo have and probably the jpeg couldn't handle it.  I searched on the internet a way to solve my problem but none of the suggestions worked, I couldn't convert the image to look like the original one :(

In the end, I made a print screen and the colors looked kind of like the original.  I want to share with you both photos, so you can see why I'm complaining :P

Oh well... I'll need to search more and try to find out what to do in this kind of situations.

Image capture from the original:

Exported photo: no vibrancy, no brightness, no light! Grrrrrr!!!

Day 302: Alignment

It was a beautiful day today, blue sky, warm breeze, didn't feel like fall at all :)  On my way home I saw this nice and harmonic buildings, the colors are so beautiful and playful!! They reminded me of the Lego blocks :P

Day 301: Berries

Howdy friends! Do you feel sleepy like me? hehe Since yesterday I'm feeling sleepy around noon time, maybe I need to take a nap :P

Today's photo is a continuation of the fall theme.  I love the contrast and textures in this photo.

Day 300: Fall Colors

Happy post 300!! I can't believe we are only 65 days left to the end of the year!  It went by so fast!

I love the colors of the fall!  They go from green to yellow to red.  The combination of those colors on the trees just look amazing!

Day 299: Round World

I always liked reflection as you could have noticed by previous posts.  This ball is made of glass, I think is from Dale Chihuly (an american glass sculptor).  His work is amazing!  We were lucky to visit one of his permanent expositions when we visited Seattle.

As you could guess, this photo is not new (I took it when we were in Chicago). Truth is, the actual photo for Saturday wasn't as good as I wanted it to be (it wasn't sharp enough according to my standards) and I couldn't retake it because it was a squirrel and wasn't there anymore :(

That being said, I decided to replace it with this one :)

Day 298: Resting

It's very common to find ducks and geese in the parks that have a water fountain or a lake.  This one was resting with its pairs but was quite alert because of my presence :)  I'd probably like to have a close up to the head but I didn't want to disturb him.

Day 297: My crazy and evil self

Happy Friday!! Today's photo is a weird but funny one hehe I was rushing the whole day and when I finally stopped and looked at me at the mirror I saw my crazy hair! I looked like Medusa! hahaha Luckily I didn't turn to stone :P

I couldn't help it, I had to take a photo of myself.  At the beginning the photo was gonna be only the hair, but then I thought... what if...?   And the eyes were also captured in the shot to make it creepier hihihi

I'm in Halloween mood muaja jaja muaja jaja!!!
Have a wicked weekend!

Day 296: Blue Splash

I have a headache since this morning and it doesn't want to go away, so today's post will be short.

I always liked the shapes that the water forms while it's dancing in the air.  They are never the same, which make them unique and beautiful.

Day 294: Drip Drop

Today's photo took me a loooong time to make!!  :)  I'm learning a new technique, so it took me some time to understand how it should be done. I'm happy with the results, but it still need some improvement.

Let me tell you one curious thing that happened to me while I was taking the shots.  I was on the balcony with my tripod, it was very cold (early morning).  After a while of barely moving I heard flipping wings and I saw a beautiful hummingbird a few inches away from my head, it was AMAZING!!! He just stood there for about 6 seconds looking at me (probably wondering what kind of flower I was hehe) and then flew away! I never saw this little bird so close! And you can't imagine how loud is the sound of his wings!

Day 292: Sponge Bob

In a previous post I took a photo of Gary, so I had to take a photo of Bob also hehehe He is also inside of our aquarium.  I guess this Sponge Bob is a little bit creepy hehe but it's perfect for the Halloween spirit!

Nikon D90 (105mm  f/2.8) - 2.5s  f/8

Day 291: Lotus

I love this lotus candle holders! They have the perfect light for a romantic dinner :P  Of course, you can also use them for any other situations, like for meditation.

Day 290: Seize the day

It's finally Friday!!! Thank God!! I thought it would never arrive!!!

I feel a bit poetic today :P  I know it's a sad photo but I wanted to represent the fragility of the living beings.  We don't think about this much often but our time here is very short.  Sometimes we argue or complain about things that are actually not that important.  Let's enjoy the present as much as we can! Laugh a lot!! Love a lot!! Learn a lot!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Day 289: Cracked

I woke up today thinking it was Friday :(  Grrrr!!  Seems like the weekend doesn't want to come!!
About today's photo, I liked the texture of the material trying to get out of the crack.

Day 288: Stormy Days

It's Wednesday today!! Only two and a half days before the weekend! Yay!!! This week is lasting for ever!!  :(
The days are getting shorter, the weather starts to feel colder... maybe the rain will come sooner than we expected... at least that what the clouds seem to shout...

Day 287: Figment of the imagination

What do you see in the photo? A leaf or maybe the head of a bird with a huge beak?  I definitely see a bird hehehe and I can also see its eye! Amazing how our imagination works, right?

Day 286: Light

Hello, hello!! Are you ready for another week? I'm not hehe I feel tired already! Hopefully the week is gonna end soon and I'll be enjoying the weekend again :)

It was hard to pick the subject for today's post, I wanted to try something different and also explore other kinds of subjects.
I can tell you that it took me a while to find a good perspective for this particular subject but I found it in the end :D

Nikon D90 (105mm  f/2.8) - 1/25s  f/10

Day 285: Printing time

During the weekend I set up my new printer, it took me a while because I had to profiling it to match the colors of the monitor.  I'm so happy with the quality of the prints!! It's a great printer!!! :D
So, for today's post I choose to photograph some of the photos I printed.

Day 284: Afternoon snack

I was in the balcony when I saw this little one climbing to the top of a tree, it was really high and the branch wasn't thick enough to support her weight. I remember thinking: "what the heck is she doing up there?".  Then, I heard a "crack" and I realized what she was doing hehe  Seems like the ripe ones were right on top! Then, she just sat under the tree and ate it.

Day 283: Relic of the past

What better way to end up this week's photo than with a close-up of a small kind of fly :)  It looks really prehistoric, right? hehe I guess there are still prehistoric beings walking or flying among us...

Day 282: Butterfly

I was walking to the mail box today when I saw a beautiful leaf on the ground. I grabbed it and thought, this is gonna be my inspiration for today's photo :)  My original idea wasn't the final photo though, I tried different angles (I wanted to have a very sharp and close-up image of the nervations of the leaf) but none of the photos seemed to be right, at least according to my judgment :P

After a while I thought I had the photo but I was wrong, it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be.  So, the only alternative was to take more photos, of course!

I'm happy that I did it because I came up with a totally different approach to the subject :)
For me, today's photo is a red butterfly resting on a stick.

Day 281: Shaded

Happy Wednesday!! We are in the middle of the week, which means... weekend is closer!

For today's post I created an abstract. I like the shapes that the light and the shadows make when they hit different objects and surfaces.

Day 280: Distorted Mirror

It seems that Blogger is having some issues lately because I couldn't upload any photos :(  Luckily it seems like it's working now :)  (It was quite tiresome to try over and over again!)

Yesterday was a C.R.A.Z.Y. day!! I was rushing during the whole day! But, there is always time for a photo hehehe
I like reflections and the metallic bowl of my stand mixer was perfect! You can see my beautiful kitchen and of course me hihi, I wanted to be in the photo too :P

Day 279: Just Apples

Hello!! Happy Monday!  How was your weekend? We had a busy weekend but it was a nice one :)

We are trying to eat healthier so I started to prepare apple and peach compote to eat on those occasions when your sweet tooth wants to make you eat unhealthy snacks.  Of course, we bought too many apples so I still have plenty more to prepare.  Bright point though, I used them for today's post.

Nikon D90 (105mm  f/2.8) - 1/60s  f/7.1

Day 278: Embroidery

I LOVE our new bathroom curtain!  It has several colors on the green and brown gamut. As you can see one of the sections has a beautiful embroidery.

Nikon D90 (105mm  f/2.8) - 1/4s  f/9

Day 277: Sleeping

I started with my experiments again hehe I drove my hubby crazy during the weekend taking photos of him, actually it's more accurate to say, taking photos of parts of him :P

Day 276: Sadness

For today's photo I chose to create a self portrait that collects all of the sad moments I had been through.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?

Have a wonderful Friday!

Day 275: Rough Lines

It was a complicated day today but I finally took today's photo :)  I was playing with shapes, light, shadows and I ended up liking this abstract.  What I like the most is the grain because it adds more texture to the image.
